• Question: Why some sounds make our skin crawl?

      I am not sure. I guess because they must be at certain frequency to stimulate pain receptors without quite activating them….so it´s sort of like an irritation. I imagine each person has a different threshold for this!

      I’m also not sure – I would think its part to do with the frequency as Ildiko says, and maybe there is also a psychological element to it!

      It’s weird, isn’t it!?
      There are a few theories on this; one is that certain sounds mimic the call of a predator and cause a fear response.
      I think Ildiko is right and the ear seems to amplify certain frequencies, causing pain.
