Absolutely! So we have a big variety of T-cells in our body which can recognise different diseases and infectious bacteria. However, this variety can change over time and unless your body has had the disease/infection before, it cant create ‘memory’ T-cells. Memory T-cells are created once you have had an infection/disease that basically means a copy of the super T-cell that killed it is stored. If you get the same infection again, the memory cell recognises it and mounts a faster, better response the second time round.

What vaccines do are show the disease to the body without actually giving you the disease. This means that memory T-cells are created and basically guarantees that if you get the disease that you have been vaccinated against, your body will mount a better, faster response to it!
