I haven’t – I use standard widefield microscopes in my lab and in previous labs I have used confocal microscopes which are basically really cool microscopes that use fluorescence to see cells!

I did use electron microscopy at uni, but I am not an expert. The images it produces are super cool though (you could get an expo out of them).

I haven’t used one myself but a very nice colleague used one for me during my PhD. She took some images of mitochondria in embryos. Mitochondria are usually long, thin oval shapes, but in the egg cell they are actually little balls. They change shape gradually on day 7 and I was trying to find out if it started any sooner in my embryos. It was really cool to see such tiny cell components in close-up!
