Skin cells can get different types of disease. I am working on skin cancer, which occurs when the DNA of skin cells mutate a lot and they can’t fix the DNA so they become mutated and grow rapidly. DNA can be damaged in the skin cells if they are exposed to too much UV light (from the sun, tanning beds etc). Other types of diseases that the skin can get can be caused by a bacterial infection, or an autoimmune disease where the body attacks the skin cells.
