I would never force my children to do any science-related stuff if the didn’t want to, but of course I would put an effort in showing them how amazing science is. However, if they really liked history, or music, or art…I would just make it easier for them to explore these other subjects. The most important thing is for you to do what makes you happy, not what your parents did 🙂
When I have children, I would like them to have certain qualities that scientists have – good teamwork, curiosity, organisation. I don’t mind if they dont want to be scientists but if they can approach life with these aspects, they should do well!
If I had children I would prefer they choose what is best for them. It’s not because I chose science that they should! And anyway, everyone has different skills and interests….it would be boring otherwise!
I think my answer is similar – I’d like my son to keep being curious about everything and learn to think like a scientist in lots of ways, but I’ll help him be whatever he wants to be. Hopefully, he will stop playing with radiators soon though. That said, I’d like him to be more into maths than I am as he could then help me with my homework!
